Winter’s Tale is the story of a jealous king, Leontes, who believes his wife, Hermoine, and his best friend, the King of Bohemia, are lovers—when he accuses them, his friend flees to his kingdom, and the pregnant Hermoine is imprisoned and put on trial . Leontes is punished by Apollo and has to live in the grief of destroying his family while the newborn princess is abandoned on the shore of Bohemia and the queen is believed dead. 16 years later, and the princess, Perdita, lives as a shepherdess, in love with the son of her long lost father's best friend. When the truth unfolds, will love and forgiveness win against human jealousy and rage?
Directing the production is Maryssa Wanlass who just moved to New Hampshire and is joining ATTP for the first time, though no stranger to the Bard in San Francisco Shakespeare Festival and many other Bay Area companies. Starring in the production are company favorites Lucy Randall-Tapply, Sam Clifton, Frederick Bickford, Ethan Fifield, and Jessie Chapman joined by newcomers Andrew Bemis, Cheryl Fifield, and Mark Vashro. Local teens Hazel Dassori-Kaye Maddie Gadbois, Aislinn Hird, Gus Kusch, Callie MacIntyre, and Corey Trask round out the cast for a delightful and energetic production.
