The New Hampshire
Shakespeare Festival
The New Hampshire Shakespeare Festival is currently on hiatus. Thank you to all the students who joined us from 2019-2023! If you’re a student, an educator, or a school leader who’d like to help us revive NHSF in a coming year, please contact us at [email protected]. We’d love to work with you!
Festival is an education program where students work with a directing team of teaching artists who lead the teens through a language-based exploration of Shakespeare. At the end of 10 weeks, the groups come together to showcase their work.
What to Expect from the Program:
- Flexible scheduling: teens choose how many days a week they'd like to participate and which days (all outside of school hours)
- Participants at each school will draw up a company contract, agreeing on their own rules and guidelines for rehearsals. This program runs on teen agency - they make decisions throughout the entire process!
- A directing team of teaching artists leads teens through a language-based exploration of Shakespeare.
- All teens (ages 13-19) with an interest in acting or the technical aspects of theater are welcome! Everyone who wishes to participate will be given a part!
- Students from all participating schools are invited to combined Master Classes in topics such as Clowning, Stage Combat, Movement, Performance, and Technical Theater.
